I'm running a 1963 40 Johnson on a 15 ft. Trailorboat made in San Rafeal, Calif.---The motor runs smooth at WOT but the boat seems to slip or cavatate or surge when on plane and really mushes out in turns. The transom of the boat measures 16" from top of the transom to the bottom of the hull. The cavatation plate on the motor is 18" from bottom of the clamp to the top of the cavatation plate. The motor mounting screws fit just two inches below the top of the tramson. Moving the motor up on the transom is not an option without major modification to the transom. I've been running the tilt in hole two counting from the transom. There is a four hole tilt adjustment available. The cavatation plate on the motor has been drilled with four holes for mounting a trolling plate which I have removed but not filled the holes.

I need your help to help this motor and boat run smoothly up to speed. Thanks in advance.

Meaux
