Greetings all,

And a Happy New Year.

I have a slight problem. I have a new to me Merc 125 hp.
1995 model.

I need to remove from the boat. I removed the cowl and see no lifting eyes. and nothing substantial enough to lift the 300 or so lbs.
I have the winch in place, just dont know where to hook it.
Any help apprediated.

Re: Motor Removal

Uncle Dave, what you're looking for is called a "lifting eye" and screws into the center of the flywheel, with a loop that you can pick with the hoist.

Here's an example of one:

There's also a few on eBay, even a combined lifting eye/flywheel puller which you might find useful eventually:

http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1

Note I wouldn't recommend the cheaper pullers for Heavy-Duty use, but I expect they'd do the job for very light use; the lifting portion should work just fine and they're priced quite reasonably for that purpose.

HTH & Happy New Year..........ed

Dave i use a heavy rope sling, on my 1350 i/l 6 under the lower cowl removing all the upper cowl. wasn't the best but it worked.
