Re: Mercury KF-7 info needed
The best shop manual is the OEM 1965 & Prior Service Manual from Mercury. They turn up on eBay from time to time, and I think it's available from East Coast Marine, too.
The KF7 is a good motor - a bridge motor between the KE7 Lightning and KG7 Hurricane. Performance wise, it'll scoot a small tinny pretty well - fast enough to get your attention! Biggest issue I've had with the old green tankers is getting the magnetos to fire consistently (if it has the Bendix-Scintilla mag). The coils and condensers are available, but the points are not. A THOROUGH cleaning of your points will be necessary to assure good fire.
