My Mercury 40ELPTO continues to "pee" after ignition is turned off recently. Is this normal? I don't remember it doing it before.

Re: Mercury 40ELPTO

What year?
for how long does it do this and does the stream otherwise look normal?

I always thought impeller and therefore drive shaft (on my model) had to be going for this to happen.

Its a 2004. It continues to pee for maybe another 15 seconds. I don't remember it doing this before.

Still continues to "pee" for about 15 seconds after turning off motor. Is impeller starting to go?

Re: Mercury 40ELPTO

Could be the poppet valve sticking, getting pressurized while running and bleeding off when shut down. Can't think of any other way of pressure build up.
