Mercury 2006 115hp fourstroke efi outboard problems

hiya

I have an annoying noise coming from my 2006 115, it sounds like its coming from below the
oil pump, I have read hundreds of posts and it seems that it might be the driveshaft bush.

I have tried the teflon lubricant and have also replaced the impeller and greased the splines
etc but the noise still happens when the engine warms up, it doesn't do it when at idle and the motor
has cooled a little but if you increase the revs to about 2000 rpm the noise comes back so it seems
like heat may be expanding the bushings ?

it looks like i will have to remove the powerhead but have never done this before on a big engine
so have a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help me with?

. Has anyone done this job before ?
. how long does it take ?
. is there a top driveshaft bushing ? ( i was told there isn't one ? )
. is there a standard mercury fix for noisy driveshaft bushes ?
. Would anyone have a manual for the 2006 115hp fourstroke ? I can find the manual for the outboard
with the square cover but mine has the tall more rounded cover. ??

My appreciation to the guys who help out with problems on here as they give
their time without reward and deserve credit.

Rich;

Is this manual one you have seen?

http://1manual.com/Mercury manuals/Service Manual PDFs/FourStroke/881980r1/cover.pdf

You must have Adobe Acrobat reader installed to use this manual. If you scroll down to the lower part of the opening page, you will see the various engine components in red. Click on the one you want and when the first page opens, click on the "Save As" icon at the top LH corner of the page and you can save it to your computer.

thanks Gerry i appreciate your help,
did you see the price of the manual ? $108 EEK!

I think I'll use the one for the older 115 and see how different it is. :)

By the time I had a manual shipped to the Uk It would probably
be around $150

Re: Mercury 2006 115hp fourstroke efi outboard problems

thanks Gerry.

actually saw the Uk dealer today and they just don't have a clue ..
he had a snake camera he stuck up the 115 leg and the picture on
it was so blurry he might as well not have bothered.

I'm guessing it's just for show so he can charge me more.

Anyway still got my noisy driveshaft problem and it looks like
i'll be replacing the oil pump at ?600 or close to $1000 just to see if
that is the problem ..nobody knows as the shaft bushes that usually cause
the noise i'm getting dont exist on the 2006 Veradito model. ?????

this is the last time Mercury are going to get my money, I'm changing to
Evinrude Etec in the spring but i have to get this motor sorted so I can sell it.

cheers for the manual link, I'll get one ordered..
