I'm looking at a new boat and I found a 2006 Lund with a 115 hp 2006 Mercury 4 stroke on it. I also see a few 07s out there as well. I wondering if there is a substantial differences among these model years. They sure look different but I wonder what changed and when it changed. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

The 06' and previous models have powerheads manufactured by Yamaha. The 07' to current models are all Merc. The previous model years are also not Smartcraft capable....

Is this a big deal or is the performance and reliability of the 06 on par with the newer motor?

The 06' with fuel injection is a good engine. No better or worse than an 07' or 08'. Smartcraft compatable engines can use Smartcraft gauges. These gauges can give a multitude of engine info in a single gauge. Not required, but nice to have...
