Hi. first post here.
I bought a used boat with a 115 hp mercury with a jet pump on it and have found out that the guy just put the jet on and dont have the cable linkage hooked up to the reverse gate? So when your going forward the reverse gate will close throwing into reverse(real fun).
I have looked in the engine cover and noticed the throttle cable is hooked up and so is the shifting cable? My question is can i use the cable that is running the shifter in the motor area since it has a pump and no gear box?
and if i do use this cable do i need to make sure that the shift lever on the engine is in the neutral position? Or am i way off here? With the jet pump i should not need a gear box cable should i?
Thanks Terry.
