Not sure if this is the right forum, but I just installed a new Solex Rubex prop on my '73 MC-1 165hp and I don't know what I should torque the prop nut to. The prop instructions say refer to the Mercruiser manual but my manual says call the dealer.
Any help would be appreciated as I am about 2 weeks into owning my first sterndrive.

Copy and paste from the service manual.

Tighten propeller nut until a torque of 55 lb. ft. (75
N?m) is obtained and continue until 3 tabs on tab
washer align with grooves on spline washer.
Bend tabs into spline washer.

I just used a newer manual, same props, same shafts.

from service manual #1, which covers '73.
my '75 uses service manual #2. it says the same thing.
i torque mine to 40, then add torque (+5, sometimes it's a little more)till the tab washer lines up.
