We recently bought a 2000 23' Kachina powerboat, it has a Mercruiser 454/bravo 1 in it, we did a test run before closing the deal, we ran it for about half an hour and everything was perfect, 2 weeks later we couldn't get it to start, took it to the mechanic and he said everything looked good (fuel pressure, spark, etc) but that the spark plugs were burned (these were supposed to be new), so we replaced all the spark plugs and took it to the water, it ran perfect again(we only ran it for 20 min.), we left it at the marina all morning and tried to take it out again in the afternoon that same day, by then at least 2 of the spark plugs were out again and I couldn't get over 2500 rpm, white smoke was coming out of the exhaust too... The mechanic thinks the problem is a "fuel sensor" but he doesn't have a mercruiser computer to test it, so we have no idea exactly which one it is, the closest place with a computer is over 300 miles away, has anyone had the same problem?
when all the spark plugs are ok the motor sounds and runs great, so I feel confident that the problem is minor... hopefully!
I appreciate any suggestions!
