Mariner 25hp 5" Extension Kit

I talked to 2 gentlemen at marineparts.com that claim they have a shaft extension kit for my engine.

Serial # 0B171927

Several guys locally said that Mariner nor MERCURY made/make an extension for this type of motor.

I need to go from a short shaft to a long shaft and need to know if there is an extension available.

what does everyones else think????

I saw an extension kit for a 25hp Merc on feEbay a few months ago - in the research that I've done on this I think a kit existed however it was made by someone other then Merc / Mariner so both parties in your case may be correct.

Did they tell what the price would be? more than the motor is worth?
That is a very pricey rework. Just my .02
