Having recurring problems with my electronic ignition system at fast cruise, and have done everything I can think of, so starting back at square one to make sure I have the correct Petronix Ignitor for my 1977 Mercruiser MIE 330 (S/N 5551947L).
Petronix tech support says they need the distributor number, which I can't see on the distributor. Also, the Mercruiser manual only refers to it as Mallory Distributor MIE 330 (Manual #3 page 3B-2). Help?

I found two different distributers used with the 330 (454 cuin). There was the TB-IV and the so called standard (my guess maybe the Mallory)

Thanks that is the one.
However I discovered the number I need is stamped on the plate under the EI. Turns out I have a 25 series Mallory that uses a ML-181 Pertronix Ignitor mated with a 1.5 ohm 40000 volt coil that is supplied with a minimum 12 volt (ie bypassing the old ballast resistor wire). Tech support at Pertronix was helpful.
