lower unit question on mercury 850

:)i just got a 1977 mercury 850 on a glastron,i'm freshening up things and was wondering how to change the lower unit lube and what kind is best to use? any help is appreciated. thanks

theirs two flat head screws on the lu take them both out drain old to put new oil put oil tip in bottom hole and squezze till it comes out top hole put finger on top hole put bottom screw in then top.You should change them washers on the screws though.And all I use is outboard motor lu oil from wal mart or your local outboard store.

To be clear, use a marine gear oil. Usually they are SAE-85 The gearcase takes 25oz, so buy a quart.

What year and model glastron? I recently got a 1977 mercury 850 on a glaston too, 1977 v-162.
