Looking for info on converting OMC Cobra to Alpha 1

I just got a bayliner 2455. I am looking for info on converting the OMC cobra to the alpha one. The guy i got it from, had bought the whole boat just for the cobra drive (that i dont want anyway). If i am not mistaken, Dont they sell a conversion kit that mounts to the OMC Gimble housing and allows the Alpha 1?

a guy at our marina just replaced his broken OMC with this kit. he said it was about $1700 for the kit (including the new outdrive) but don't take my word for it

Or get the Mercruiser transom plate and bolt it in. The Merc needs 2 additional holes drilled, however the keyhole is the same.

I know a little something about those conversion kits - they're a pretty good solution that prevents you from having to tear your boat all apart to make it work again. SEI has a pretty good warranty, too, so the risk is lower than cobbling together used parts.
