You and I know you have to get an actual Volvo prop since there are no aftermarket versions of them. If you go on the iboats store you will therefore not see any there.

http://www.volvopentastore.com is through iBoats. Too bad the prices are horrible. You can see if they will match but doubtful.

You should also be looking at type J propellers. They have 4 blades on the rear prop. They are going to be the future replacement for the B props. If you need a complete set, go for the J props. Because of the shift to J props, you may have a lot less selection finding the B's.

My sugestion is to talk to a Volvo dealer. The J5 should be equivalent to a B5 as the pitch should be the same but that is just a guess. You should talk to someone who knows.

Solas is producing B series Volvo DuoProp sets now since the Volvo patent ran out a few years ago.

That is good to know. Wonder if that's why Volvo brought out the J props.

If you go with a Solas, you will likely need to call Solas to see what a B5 corresponds to in inches of pitch since solas is available in 17", 19" and 21".

According to my calcs with real world perfomance with my B5 set, a Solas 21" is closest to the B5. Their 23" is B6-B7 territory.

Maybe Volvo came out with the J series to counter their B and C series going into public domain.

Looks like they are only available in 17, 19 and 21 inch pitch

Wonder when they will come out with versions of the newer Volvo drives. Mine uses F series.

Yeah, just looked them up again, when they first came out there were more. They use to have B1-8 equivalents with varying combinations of the 17,19,21 and 23. Now just see the 21 at the top. A person should probably should call Solas to get the latest and greatest choices..

I think the F and D have a few more years but just a feeling. The SX type drives were 95-96 origins? The B's and C's were back in mid 80's I think.

I don't think I would be mixing these Solas props either but a call to Solas would answer the question.
