Right now my wife and I are looking for a newer boat. Rinkers have really caught my eye and we are looking for a 20'+ bow rider so the 212 and the 232 and 226 have been made. We have a budget of about $10k and want the newest we can. So hopefully 1998 and up. Possibly not if we find a very nice 232 since they will cost a little more.

Does anyone know what years they made the 212, 226, and the 232?

Also the main thing I need to know is what are the person's and weight capacities?

And I noticed they like to have good power to weight ratios on these boats, usually have a 5.0 and up on 20'+.

Also if you guys know for some things to look for with problems or special things as well.

Re: Looking at Some Rinkers

The 212's and the 232's were made from about 1995 to 2005. In 2006, the 212 was replaced with the 226 and the 232 was replaced with the 246. Main difference being that the 212's and the 232's had an optional bolt-on extended swim platform that was not included in the LOA dimensions. In 2006, the 226 and the 246 included a fully integrated, molded-in extended swim platform that was included in the LOA dimension; hence the different model number. Also, the cockpit design changed.

If you let Google be your friend, you will find on-line specs including person/weight capacities. Just type in "Rinker 212 reviews" for example.

As far as looking out for any issues, I can't think of anything unique to these models....no different than any other boat. Obviously, maintenance history is the biggest concern.

I have come down with a severe case of "2footitis" and I'm looking to upgrade our 192 to a newer 226 this spring. I really like the new 226 layout compared to the 212 but when it comes right down to it, I'd be very happy with either model.

Good luck!

Re: Looking at Some Rinkers

Thanks for the info mvn. I actually got ahold of Randy Rinker and exchanged some emails with him.

Hopefully I can find a decent 232 that's a bow rider. Been having trouble finding them as bow riders.

The 212 was built from 1995 through 2005. The 232 was built from 1995 through 2005. The 226 was started in 2006 and is still in production.

The 232 and 212 had u shape seating from 1995 through 1999. In 2000 they both got the aft walkthrough entrance from the platform.

The 212 is 8 people or 1615 lbs. people and gear

The 232 capacity is 12 people or 1885 lbs. people and gear.

Yes, the folks over at Rinker are great to deal with. Extremely helpful and courteous.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention the seating change in 2000....a huge improvement.

I've seen 232's in both cuddy and bowrider configurations for sale up my way....pricey though.

Good luck in your search.
