I'm planning on going to the keys in september for vacation for four days. the hotel i'm staying at has free docking. How bad is it and what preperations should i do to my outdrive/motor if i'm going to leave it in the water the whole time? i do not have another means of flushing other than the muffs. Is there some sort of solution that will coat everything to help protect it for a small amount of time?

When I was anal about my boat (many years ago) I sprayed every piece of metal inside the engine compartment and in the cockpit with a lubricant like WD 40. I then flushed with one of those anti-salt devices when I hauled out. I don't think it hurts your boat for occasional use, but it can hurt up a painted trailer.
