Hi,
Folks on this forum are very helpful! I have a mid 70's 55hp Chrysler which is running well except for what appears to be a fuel leak just below the cylinder drain cover. I have read posts indicating that older engines did not recirculate and dispelled excess fuel, but this is a good amount of fuel.
1. Does my engine recirculate and is this just as it appears, that the gasket material on the lower part of the drain cover (starboard side w/ the pivot bolt for the shift linkage attached) has failed, causing a constant puddling of fuel at the base of the powerhead?
2. Can new gasket(s) still be purchased? If not, what material should I make it out of, or should I use RTV liquid stuff?
Thank so much for your advice.
Lance
