just rebuilt carb. gas still streaming out of carb. put back on the motor and still streaming out of the carb.
did i miss something?its a 1984 johnson 155.maybe something to do with the float? how do i adjust it?
Re: just rebuilt carb gas still streaming out of carb!!
The general rule of thumb is that when the float bowl is held upside down, the float should be parallel with the bowl surface. This is with the needle in place. When the carb is together, and held in it's normal position, you can blow air into the fuel fitting. But when held upside down, the float needle should shut off the air and you can't blow into the fitting.
Re: just rebuilt carb gas still streaming out of carb!!
well when i prime the bulb it starts to stream out from the inside of the carburator.i didnt see a fuel line in the carb and its not coming from any of the fuel lines around the motor.ill open it up again and see what i find.is it possible the float is not floating? the float is plastic.
Re: just rebuilt carb gas still streaming out of carb!!
I just went through a flooding carb. I took it all apart and found nothing. Now it runs great again. When you rebuilt it did you use all new parts? Float too?
Re: just rebuilt carb gas still streaming out of carb!!
same thing happening to me too.. all holes in carb seem fine, but fuel comes out of carb plate when priming fuel... might have to flip it upside down and see if float is parallel like that
would a clogged fuel pump/filter be causing this too?
Re: just rebuilt carb gas still streaming out of carb!!
checked out the carb again and now i noticed all 3 carbs were leaking.i looked at the primer solenoid and i moved the lever and now i doesnt leak.the 1st pic is of when it was leaking in the 2nd pic carbs dont leak at all.is that where the lever should be all the time?

primer bulb stays hard but i cant get this thing to start.i know i flooded the carbs but what else could it be why its not starting? could it be the spark plugs?
Re: just rebuilt carb gas still streaming out of carb!!
Bek01212, looks like you and I are in the same boat here. can't get my freaking boat to start... i'm thinking it's probably a lack of strong spark, which i'm gonna test again later... arrrgg..
