The general rule of thumb is that when the float bowl is held upside down, the float should be parallel with the bowl surface. This is with the needle in place. When the carb is together, and held in it's normal position, you can blow air into the fuel fitting. But when held upside down, the float needle should shut off the air and you can't blow into the fitting.

You could have a piece of crap underneath the needle in the seat that was missed on the repair. Or it came from a fuel line when you primed the carb.

well when i prime the bulb it starts to stream out from the inside of the carburator.i didnt see a fuel line in the carb and its not coming from any of the fuel lines around the motor.ill open it up again and see what i find.is it possible the float is not floating? the float is plastic.

I just went through a flooding carb. I took it all apart and found nothing. Now it runs great again. When you rebuilt it did you use all new parts? Float too?Carb15.jpg

What I meant was a piece of crap INSIDE the fuel line when you hooked it up to the carb after the rebuild.

same thing happening to me too.. all holes in carb seem fine, but fuel comes out of carb plate when priming fuel... might have to flip it upside down and see if float is parallel like that

would a clogged fuel pump/filter be causing this too?

The 2nd pic is where the lever should be for normal running. You only put it in the 1st pic position if you want to bypass the primer.

To the OP...when you rebuilt the carbs did you replace the needles and seats?

Bek01212, looks like you and I are in the same boat here. can't get my freaking boat to start... i'm thinking it's probably a lack of strong spark, which i'm gonna test again later... arrrgg..

What's the compression ? Will the spark jump a 7/16 " open air gap ?
