I was on the lake one day and noticed that there was not much water coming out of the exhaust on the motor. I changed the impeller and hooked up a hose system and water flows through the prop like butter but the other is just a drip drip. Should I test it on the water just to make sure. I tried to find the tubes that go into the motor for the water but it looks like it goes in from the bottom. So getting to those may be a pain. Thanks for future replies. (boat newb)

Remove the top cowl.

Look toward the back, near the sparkplugs, in the bottom cowl.

You should find a black hose connected to a fitting, hole on the outside. This is where the telltale should spray water.

Take a small wire and insert it into the hole, try to clean it out of any debris or dirt.

35767.jpgThat motor might not have one.But you can install it easily.
See pic #20 remove it and install an L shaped fitting and drill a small hole. Then a piece of hose.

I own the same year/motor you do. Mine does not have the telltale.

Just a small spitting from the exhaust is the only visible spray above water.
