Is it possible to have too much battery?

My manual stipulates a minimum of 500 CCA for a my battery, but no upper limit. Is there a reason why I should not get a big-a$$ battery for my Evinrude 175? Current (!) battery has 625 CCA, 120 mins reserve. I'm tempted to get one with 800 CCA and 180 mins. Any wisdom out there? Thanks...

Not possible to have too much capacity. The only penalty is weight, and the damage to your wallet.

CDI actually makes the replacement parts for BRP for the older OMC engines now, in their troubleshooting guide they recommend a 1000MCA or higher battery for every outboard engine, which is usually about 800CCA.
