Now that I fully expect to launch boat (14 foot Chrysler Charger 118) next week which does not have power tilt trim and I have taken off the tilt trim from second motor and is available to install would like to hear opinion on whether this is recommended. I expect I will find out soon enough but how difficult is it to raise the motor for beaching or trailering. Very interested to learn from your experiences.

If you have a working tilt n trim unit, I would install it. I bought one, just because I got tired of lifting the motor,

By all means put it in!!
Just make sure the thrust bracket is included in the change over.

Depending on the year and where it as operated?? Salt or fresh water?
Salt water, it will be almost IMPOSSIBLE to get the parts apart.
Even fresh water it will be difficult.

Always include the year and model #s on any posts.
Some newer parts might not fit the older stuff.

No Title

The tilt/trim is from 71 85HP model 857BB and the other motor is 1972 85HP model857BD.......looks very similar.

Jerry you are right about difficulty of removing the unit from the motor which I expect was used in salt water. I do have it off but the lower bolt is still frozen tight. Thought I might take it to machine shop to remove? Welcome suggestions. Will attach photo. And good reminder to also change over the steel thrust bracket

If you don't need to remove it??
On The T@T it won't need to come out.
Just be real careful hen removing it from the motor your adding it to.

PB Blaster is a good one.
Or a mix of 50/50 acetone and trans fluid.

Heat always helps.
