I have just purchased an older small evinrude outboard. Can someone please tell me exactly what I have. The numbers on the ID plate are 4443-43412. I would really like to know exactly what year model and HP please. Can someone also please tell me the oil mixture. I also have one stupid question, on the top left side of the motor there is a pull up knob that says clutch, Is this to put the motor in neutral I assume? Thanks

Re: Info on older Evinrude

51 Fleetwin 7.5 hp.Fuel mix is 16:1. use TCW3 rated oil. I believe this is an all friction bearing motor (bushings) So I would stick with that mix Unless an old Evinrude guy says you can go with 24:1.Even the 55 7.5 motors were 16:1
with all friction bearings.
when the 55 roller bearing 10 hp was 24:1
I believe 52 was the last for the 44 series 7.5 motors.
That knob is indeed a neutral button of sorts.I believe it has 360 degree reverse.

Re: Info on older Evinrude

The 24/1 mixture (1qt 50/1 TCW-III oil to 6gal gas) will function just fine. A gasoline octane rating of 87 will also be fine.
