hi guys i just joined iboats what a great site learned a bunch of stuff on here. but i couldnt find my exact awnser to my question. heres my situation. any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I have a 1988 mercury 70 hp serial number 0B378655.
First symptoms were bogging even at WOT would only go like 10 mph.
Now the bogging has somewhat stopped but is more like a pulsing action. Takes a very long time to get on plane and wot only goes about 30 mph compared to 42 when i first got it. Also sometimes wants to die in gear.
Ive done alot of research and this is what i have done so far...
-sent carbs off to be rebuilt and put on the motor, new needle and seats
-new fuel pump diaphram.
-all fuel lines are clear of debri.
-new plugs.
-coils and electrical seem to be working because i did a spark test with a gap tester from autozone
-Did a compression all is within 10%.
Anything else im missing? i thought it would be powerpack or switchbox or coils whatever they call it. (my first bass boat). But i checked for spark and the tester showed that i had spark but idk.. im stuck.
I really need your guys help. My local boat shop charges 130 bones an hour and im a full time college student and there is no way i can afford that. I just wanna go catch some biggins. any feedback is appreciated thanks. if you need anymore info let me know
