How often to replace impeller ???

I just bought a 15hp '89 Evinrude that had been in storage for a little while. The impeller seems to be working as the motor is peeing but I was wondering if there was some rule of thumb regarding impeller replacememt intervals, for example: replace every year, every other year, as needed, etc...

What say you all?

Depends on how dirty the water is and whether in salt or not. I run offshore almost exclusively and ~ 300 hours is OK. Running in silty bays, lakes or rivers, more often, say every 100 to 150 hours. Salt adds some fun to getting things apart and for all applications, use non hardening Permatex, gasket sealer or Triple Guard grease on ALL fasteners (only if you want to get stuff apart again).
