How much does my boat weigh?

Hope I'm in the right section...

Anyway, been trying to find information on the weight of a 1988 Nitro Marine 18 to 19 foot fish n ski
It has a Mariner Marathon 135 on it

Even NAPA didn't have the specs

If someone could guestimate the hull + engine weight I can add in the rest

take it down to youre local scrap yard and see if you can weigh it on their scale!

You could always take it to a truck stop and weigh it. Then remove the boat and weigh the trailer (put it in water somewhere)... No brainer...

You can weigh the boat with a regular household scale using simple math and physics.

1. First put the scale under the tongue with the boat pulled all the way up on the trailer. For me the scale read 150lbs so W1=150

2. scoot the boat back on the trailer EXACTLY 10" so 10=X

3. reweight the tongue. For me it was 100lbs so W2=100

4. measure the distance in inches from the axle to the tip of the tongue. For me it was 180". so 180=C

5. Plug all 4 of your numbers into the equation. C(W1-W2)/X


Mine looked like this... 180(150-100)/10

6. do the equation
a. first you subtract 100 from 150 which = 50
b. then you multiply 50 by 180 which= 9000
c. finally you divide 9000 by 10 which = 900

So my boat weighs 900 lbs. It will only take you about 5-10 minutes to do.

Sounds difficult. I know I simply took mine into the scale. What boat was measured at 900 lbs using that method?

interesting...so the equation somehow discounts the trailer weight? Which is the problem of taking the whole thing to a public scale.

The only issue I can see is the "scoot the boat back on the trailer" part. It feels pretty heavy so not sure how much scooting I can do to it but I might give it a shot

I'm assuming the boat/trailer needs to be on solid, level ground for the weighing part?

I had to weigh a camper and a local stone supplier let me run the camper on their scales
