$3,200 for an 86 4winns horizon 195 with a 140h I/o. I was about to give up looking for a boat that I liked until I got back from Iraq, then my brother and I stumbled onto a marina with it siting in the water.

$3900 for a one owner, meticulously maintained 1978 Wellcraft 210XL Nova. Runs perfect, no rot. I think I stole it.

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

Original cost for a 1932 Edwin Monk designed mahogany runabout built in 1957 with 1961 40hp Evinrude Lark III, extra prop, trailer with 2 spare tires:

$200.

Time spent restoring it: 3 years
Money spent restoring it: $225
Money spent buying extra spare parts on eBay when they came up, and a working vintage Prestolite Powertrim: $350
General boat stuff I had to buy for my first boat: $250
Cost of a backup 61 Lark III to use as my spare parts store, found locally on Craigslist: $100
Speeding ticket I got the first time I took the boat out: $169
Grand total:$1294

Still cheaper than the wifey's horse she bought at the same time that I bought the boat.

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

owner was asking $9500 and i got it for $8000. came with a 2002 Venture dbl axle trailer with surge brakes. i quickly spent the $1500 i saved and a little more on a GPS fishfinder combo, VHF radio, new stereo and speakers and full coast guard kit. also bought two new batteries and had a brand new cockpit cover made for her cause the old one was shingotz. about $11000 into her total i guess. but do you see my avatar? moments like that are priceless to me and that's well worth my investment. :)

Bottom line is. You can pay very little for a boating outfit but it can be absolutely priceless for what you get out of it. Our boat is more like one of the family pets to us !!! Even if we buy bigger I don't think we will sell this one.

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

I paid $3000 for my boat about 3+ seasons ago. Around here that is pretty good deal. Boats tend to hold their value a little better than some other locations it seems.
This is probably due to a shorter boating season compiling less hrs per year on a given boat?..maybe, not completely sure on that tho'.
It has been absolutely a great (re) starter lake boat for us. No problems whatsoever with the....(wait for it)...Force 90hp engine and we've put well over 100 outings on the boat and have continued to give it proper maintenance, which is how we received it.;)
All good

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

I spent 4500 on my boat. It had pretty much everything I wanted, and I had to look for a while to find it. I was looking for a fairly modern looking bowrider in good shape with a V6 or V8 engine. I could find a lot of 4 cyl mid 90s boats for around 6000, but the more powerful engines were running higher. I found mine listed on CL for 5500 and when I called the guy he said he was in a bind and if I could pick it up the next day he would let it go for 4500. I drove to Dallas the next morning early and picked it up.

I've only had it a couple of months, and we've already been out in it about a dozen times. Only time will tell how good of a deal it really was.

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

I paid $4100 and put about 400 in parts and another 300 in tools that I needed for it. So far I've paid $4800 for one trip out in it and I've had it for 5 months. I think I overpaid. The wife gave the go ahead and I bought the second boat I looked at. Way too hasty.

1985 Wellcraft V20 Steplift Cuddy Cabin.
1986 Johnson 200.
1989 Magictilt roller trailer.

I paid a bit over 20,000 out the door including tax trailer and some upgrades for a new 2008 Maxum 1900 SR 3 which was about 2/3 of Msrp.

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

I have about $3500 in profit on my boat! Yes you read that right. My boat (with a lot of hard work from me) has paid me 3500 to own it.

I've been buying, fixing/repairing boat and motor parts all year. I pick up used motors that need tune-ups or repairs, fix em, use them for awhile on my boat then sell them when I find an upgrade. So far I've managed to sell each one for more than I bought it for.

Started with a 14ft w/1969 johnson 40hp and 10 motors and 2 boats later I have a Grew SS170 with a 95 Evinrude 70hp. After parts on this current rebuild I will still be up around 2500. That should just about pay for my gas and beer next season;)

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

We bought ours on CL in August, 84 Celebrity with the 260 horse 350 for $1600 and it has been well cared for, original interior in great condition. We bought it from a guy who bought it from the original owner and he had bought it for the engine, he had blown his up. When he got it home he decided it was too nice to use for a donor so he put it on CL and we bought it within a couple hours. Only thing we have done so far is new bimini top (matches boat color better) and new prop (oops...our bad LOL) We looked it and it books for around $2900. We are very happy with it and wish winter was over already!!!!!

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

Just under $20,000 in 2008. It wasn't cheap for a 5 year old boat but if didn't spend the cash I would have lost it in the market anyway. I didn't know that then but I am glad I bought it now.

Re: How Much did your boat cost?

4300, probably no stealing going on here. it was end sept. '06, probably top dollar. bet i've put 1500 into it in repairs too, starting with a manifold and riser within the first 2 or 3 weeks. $$$.... my labor. i'm not really complaining. i seen a lot of garbage for sale for 5k when i bought mine for 4300. i would have been embarrassed trying to sell these garbage boats for 5k.
anyways, i use my boat often, it does what i want it to, it's most seaworthy and i'm happy...side benift is it's a kinda unique boat so i get many comments......
