Bought a new aluminum boat and didn't want to spend 125 plus on a sternamte so i made my own. Let me know what you guys think. I am going to mount my transucer in the morn. I will test it and let you guys know. Thanks for the advice.

Looks ok so far. What material is it made of?

Check to be sure the mount itself doesn't project below the transom edge... you'll get a lot of spray if it does.

Re: homemade Sternmate (no hole transducer attachment)

Its made of .10 aluminium. I set it 1/4 inch above the bottom of the boat. The seam in the transducer sets dead even. Its a little close to my prop (13 inches), so i get a small amout of grey wash on the screen at full speed. I couldn't go the 15 due to the design of the strakes on the bottom of the boat. The bracket kicks up a small rooster tail. I will have to make a cover for the bottom to smooth things out. It worked well and just needs some minor tweaking.
