The boat I recently purchased came with a stingray installed by the p.o. I have not heard many good things about them so I want to remove it and see for myself how the boat performs without it. This will leave 4 holes in my cativation plate. Will the holes cause any problems? Is it something I should be concerned with? Thankyou for any feedback.

Makes no difference. I have the same situation. You're correct in removing it. They're nothing but trouble. If you want to plane that quickly, get smart tabs.

Yeah, I tried one and it got me up on plane lickety split, even with a boatload of bodies, but killed off some top end and it had an annoying side effect of spraying water back into the boat. I chucked it and ran it with the holes for awhile and had no problems, but the holes bothered me so I filled them with JB weld, sanded them flush and painted it, can't even tell they were even there now. Got most of that bottom end back by going from a 3 to a 4 blade prop.:)
