I have a 1977 70 hp Johnson Model # 70el77s, that has a few issues. the main concern is the center portion of the powerhead that bolts to the lower unit. It has two cracks were bolts go in and there are two bolts sheared off in it. This is all prior to me working on it.
I have found a 1976 70hp johnson Model #70EL76D that is still running and is for a good price.
Are these powerheads the same?
