I need toi removed the powerhead on my 2003 Yamaha F225. Have to replace the steering lower shaft seal , I blew it out trying to get grease to come out the top ..
The only way to get the steering shaft out is to take the power head off to get at the motor mount bolts?

I have already got the powerhead bolts loose..there where not stuck in.
But not sure if I have gotten all of the bolts loose needed to remove the power head. is there only 7 the 3 in the back of the motor and two on each front sides?

Re: Help!! Need to remove powerhead f225!!

I would try looking up the engine and get diagrams of the whole thing. I looked online and found some for my boat but I have a 1986 Evinrude. Needless to say when I did my upper and lower mounts there were the (7) you talk about as well as (6) long bolts that you cant see unless you remove the cowel and all of its pieces..

I'm not familiar with the F225

This is what I looked at when I did mine
http://shop2.evinrude.com/Index.aspx?siteid=1&catalog_id=0&s1=60eaeb2c490656fae43f63db1d3a85e3

again,,this is for Envinrude but i am sure there is something for Yamaha as well

good luck!
