I got a top end kit listed as a marine kit for a GM 3.0L 181 cid 4 cylinder!
But the head gasket is not a stainless steel head gasket that came in this kit
does this make a differance?? or should i stay with the stainless steel head gasket and look for a new one of those??

There must be about a hundred different kits on the market for that engine, and without knowing what kit you have, it's impossible to say for sure. But if it states it's a marine kit, then the head gasket is probably composite or has brass rings around the water ports.

well that is why i did this post the kit was sold as a marine head kit but
the head gasket is like you would put on a car here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320740327307?item=320740327307&viewitem=&vxp=mtr

but there is no brass rings around the water ports also it is steel were there is a ring a magnet will stick to the metal parts of the gasket
question is will it hold up to salt water???
