I have been replacing my impellor,it has not been done for over 10 yrs.I had a terrible fight to get the frozen driveshaft out-had to be quite brutal-on reassembly y'day, the spline was very stiff to get fully home, and had to be forced. The engine started ok and pumped water (yeah!),but after a few mins was struggling, then started to scream-I switched off straight away, and had a partial seize(could not turn flywheel and it was hot in the middle).Decided the lower unit was putting too much load on the crank, dropped lower unit again and flywheel would turn again,so spent today,removing/replacing lower unit until it was an almost sliding fit (cleaning in between goes etc).Ran motor up and varied rpm for about 1 hr-no sign of screaming, and responds to throttle ok ( plenty of water from tell tale),but have yet to try her on the water under load, and wonder if I have damaged the crank main bearings-there is no obvious end float
