I've been in many lakes from Georgia, South Carolina to Maine and I've taken in lots of water and never been sick. But I also got dysentery in Iraq in 2003, so maybe that has built up my resistance a bit!

Check out this link. With higher than normal water temps look out. Two children have died from brain eating amoeba.

I would say blue-green algae. We have had some lakes put out serious advisories here in Kansas. Several lakes have shut down the beaches and advised not to partake in any lake activites if it involves getting in the water. Its some pretty serious stuff.
