Re: Gunfight at the DC Corral.....

I'd say Boom hit a home run!

I agree whole heartedly; everything Boomyal said is spot on. That is a cultural and political battle that will be waged without any immediate success.

The issue is how to put a stop to this nonsense. The university, the campus police, the town police, the FBI, Dept of Home Land Security as they stand can only show up after the fact. There has to be a way to stop the perp dead, pun intended, in his tracks. I'm just in favor of having collegiate "air marshals" to provide security until the social/political battles are won.

Interesting how an incident like this brings out all the people with political axes to grind.

Face it ... this is the cost of living in a free society and get on with your lives. It really has nothing to do with gun control, campus cops or socialism. There will always be one looney like this that will find a hole in the safety net.

Agree 100%, as stated in post #20...

As for the "pussification" comment.....my guess is that unless you are in the situation personally, you shouldnt comment. I to would like to think that I would do something, but what exactly can you do? Going up against a rifle or any gun is suicide. These people are messed up in the head and won't be reasoned with. All you can do is save yourself and maybe get some others out safe with you..........

Having been in a situation involving a bar full of people, and a hopped up doper waving a 9MM I know what it takes to "do something". Our "incident" ended with no shots fired, and only 1 person injured (that would be the hopped up doper). The incident took place over 20 years ago but when my buddy and I talk about it we remember every detail. You have to remember it was a different country back then. After the doper was disarmed and subdued the cops were called. They arrested the guy, took statements from those involved, and left. FWIW The doper was carrying a bunch of Acid to boot as I recall he plea bargained and got 15 years.

Sure glad the passengers of flight 93 didn't think like that. They sacrificed themselves to save God knows how many on the ground.

Eric what I meant to say was that I personally would like to think I would do something.....the rest of that comment was an attempt at understanding why people may not.

That being said however I think the scenerios are inherently different. The heros on flight 93 knew what their fate was. It was more of a "its gonna happen anyways lets save as many as we can" type of situation (not to downplay what they did) In the school shootings, you have a chance at survival, you have a chance.....that is where the difference lies. Some people I am sure see that survival chance, and don't see the chance to save others.

As for me, after thinking about it a bit more, I dont think I could stand the guilt of knowing I couldve done something and didnt............

Re: Gunfight at the DC Corral.....

How 'bout mothers just staying at home, nurturing and loving their children? Then we would not have so many disgruntled, attention seeking, troublesome children!

When I went to school, one in ten children did not have a mother at home. The one underattended child could not help being influenced by the other nine.

Today, you'd be lucky if one child, in ten, did have a mother at home. His behavioral influence on the other nine underattended children is nil.

Connect the dots! This is not to say that this unfortunate incident could not have happened at any time in history, but what is the recognized as the beginning time for the rise of troubled youth?

I daresay, it all started when the family taxes skyrocketed above the 5% my father paid , chasing the mother out into the work place and the Feminists declared that women were not whole if they stayed at home and baked cookies for their man (and children)

I couldn't agree more, but it actually started a little before that. The taxes had to rise above the 5% because foriegn policy shifted to being the worlds police. It costs obscene amounts of tax money to play that role, buy peace and influence indifferent governments.

A little isolationism could go a long way to bring people back to nationalism, community, family and inner happiness.

You buy your kid school supplies, the school steals them, and gives them to other kids. Communism, need I go further?
Yes, you need to go further. As I said, just more BS propaganda.

Did you prosecute? Otherwise, you are teaching apathy.

Re: Gunfight at the DC Corral.....

Little story on concealed weapons in our area - I keep my permit next to my driver's license. My credit cards all have written "SEE PHOTO ID" on the sig line. That means any store I enter and pay with credit card, ID is needed. My wife would get so upset with me when I would accidentally pull out my conceal carry permit instead of driver's license. But then, in a jewelry store first, then in other stores, and the bank, she began hearing, "No ma'am, it is okay, we like his kind around here. It makes us feel safer knowing there is someone around who can protect us." Her tune changed and she doesn't mind when the CC permit comes out ....

Let the perps know they have something to worry about. If you have evil intents, be afraid, be very afraid ...

I suspect there's a great many students at VPI that are thinking that same thing this morning.

In today?s world you would get sued for violating the dopers rite to rob and or kill you.

So, anyone you don't agree with, you just say it's "bs propaganda" Yes, that will work.

Don't worry about CJY... if you direct a comment in disagreement with him, he will vehemntly attack you. However, he has no problems telling others that they are full of bs. Just give him your tax money so he can redistribute it to welfare crack addicts.
