I have a 1977 Grady White 19.5 ft cuddy (175hp Merc) that has a hull in great shape. No bottom paint, nice seats, etc. Stupid me, I had a thermostat buzzer that kept going off because it was old and shorted. Replacing the sensor involved removing two headbolts which broke off easily and the block holes disintegrated when tapping out. The engine has a great deal of corrosion, but used to run fine. Should have left it alone. It has a 9.9 Merc kicker.
I just purchased a 1981 V20 steplift Wellcaraft with a 1998 150 Merc. for 2,500. The merc is absolutely beautiful and clean. I figured I would sell the boat hull and really good trailer. However, the boat is in excellent shape and well maintained by a carpenter who really cares.
Question: Sell the Grady White or the Wellcraft? I would move the 9.9 kicker. I really like the GW and have had it 10 years. I pulled off the excellent shape lower unit. new starter and other parts from the 175 merc. I could sell them as well. Makes no sense to keep both.
