OK guys here we go. Sunday we got out for the first day of the season.
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=461218

so I am getting a new prop. I am pretty set on giving SS a shot. Some say yes some say no SS. Most around here run SS.

I do not have all the answers to all the questions for the prop quiz:)
but roughly answers are as follows...

1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
See link above. Before I was pretty happy with performance.

2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum.
OEM Mercury Alum

3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
not exactly sure Diammeter. I am pretty sure it is 13.75 pitch is 21

4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
WOT rpm was about 4800, average load, could overrev a bit with an extremely light load.
Speed at WOT with average load,44-48, depending on conditions. To hit 48 on the gps it has to be very smooth.

5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
Mercruiser 4.3L Alpha one Gen II 190hp 2006

6) Boat make model, year, length and weight
2006 Rinker Captiva 192 2700 dry.

I would like to keep the same pitch as I feel like that will continue to give me the best all round performance. Any suggestions? Or things to stay away from. The boat is in the shop so while it is there I have got some shopping to do.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry about that one. Lets try this again.

A buddy of mine had a Laser II in his shop and let me try it. 14.25x21p. It was NOT the prop for my boat. Holeshot was awful you could almost feel it slip on start off. Once it got out of the hole it ran great. It was no where near what I expected. I think in looking around that Laser is more of a higher speed design.

So I am going to order one but I am still looking for a good all around performance prop. I am looking at a couple.

I thought with the 20 I might get a bit more holeshot with out loosing much midrange and top end performance

Just see alot of people running these props.

I have heard that these perform pretty well as they are the same as the Mercury Vengence.

I could use some advice because I have to order the prop tomorrow to get it here by the weekend

Thanks

Well I have the same motor. 2002 four winns 180 horizon 4.3 190 up. Currently running a ss prop, original owner had installed from dealer, just wondering if you found anything else out. Would like to have a high speed prop and one for pulling a skier aka good hole shot.

How about posting your gear ratio its on the leg of the drive..3 or 4 blade....And would you like to prop for a full load.....That is running at 44.4500 loaded or 48.4900 ...the difference is speed when your running light
