Gimbal swapping

Hello everyone new here to the site so bare with me lol
I’m looking at a 1984 Bayliner Trophy 2460 it has a Volvo 350 with a Volvo drive. I’m going to put my GM 350 that only has torque cam & weind intake on it in & my Mercriuser alpha or bravo unit on it. My biggest question is will my Mercriuser Gimbal bolt right into where the Volvo gimbal was or is there going to be a problem?

Your 1984 is an AQ series drive. If it's a 290, it's aa much better drive than a bravo, and 10000 times better than an alpha

Only way to bolt in a Mercruiser in that boat is if you redo your transom

2Xs with SD. That AQ will out last the Merc stuff. Volvo got it right from the beginning.
Is the transom still solid on your Bayliner? They have a tendency to “soften up“over time.
