fuel tank size

hey everyone this is fishfarm again. on my 1986 tracker tx 17 that i just bought does not have a fuel tank in it. it has a 50hp mariner with a 12p prop what size fuel tank would fish me all day and cover some water. i was thinking of 12 gallons. you think that will work trying to keep it some what light in the rear so i can get up on plane well still. have not put it in the water yet been doing some rewiring and a new steering helm

OK - That motor will burn 2.5-3 gal/hour at cruising speed (estimate). That gives you no more than 4 hours cruising. This is enough for most fisherman, but if you need more add an aux 6 gallon.
