Fuel pump pressure question

I'm finally getting my boat ready to use and I noticed that the clear fuel filter almost runs out of fuel while idling for a long period of time. I disconnected the line (there was a hiss indicating pressure) but when I cranked the motor over it spurted gas but not steady. Is that normal? is there a way to check the pressure?

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Plumb in a gauge, it should show 4 to 6 psi,...

That clear filter shouldn't even be there,....
If ya don't have a canister type filter, before the fuel pump, Add 1, 'n get ridda the clear thingy,...

Re: Fuel pump pressure question

The fuel flow will not be steady, it will go in spurts as the mechanical pump's lever moves in and out, one stroke pulls some in and the other forces it out.
