Re: Fuel Problem '78 Evinrude, 35hp

We have never heard what the starting procedure is. If the primer bulb is not being squeezed to get the carbs full before attempting to start, it will always take forever unless primed. Lets hear what's been tried. All the suggestions in the world mean nothing unless those suggestions are attempted.

Re: Fuel Problem '78 Evinrude, 35hp

It has a portable tank, I always prime it until the bulb is hard. I have tried a new tank(new gas), new fuel line, and a new fuel pump, because I swore that must have been the problem at first. Spark is great, compression is too. Choke appears to be working fine also, I'll have to double check that it is closing all the way, but I'm quite certain it was. I really appreciate the diagram for the fixed jet screwdriver, I made one last night.

I'm probably not going to attempt a carb rebuild until April (I'm in CT, and I might as well leave the boat winterized until then). Any words of wisdom?

Thanks again to everyone for all the replies.
