From fresh to salt and back...

We primarily run in fresh water on the river, however, this weekend we are venturing out to the sound for two days and back to fresh water. Will the 20+ mile return journey be sufficient enough to flush the drive and engine?

yes.
but if you are only 20 miles upriver from a sound, at least on the east coast, you are already in brackish water anyway.

Sorry, the 20 miles is from the last area of brackish.

Um, yeah... when we saltwater boaters flush our engines, we flush for a few minutes. I''d say a 20 mile run through fresh water (if it is fresh water) is by far enough time.
