I'll be repainting very soon and figured while I'm waiting on the paint to cure before I flip it over I'd start to work on the console supports. They were previously made from ply (with very little 'glass on it) but I've been considering using foam the way Mark42 did to build his bayliner cab. Is this feasible? Is it gonna be strong enough to hold everything? The cap was screwed to it as well.

Re: Foam console support?

Foam is ok to establish the shape but the strength will come from the glass you apply, it will have to be $epoxy.

Ply with polyester and glass is a lot cheaper .

Foam is also a lot easier to shape and fabricate parts from.

If its not visible and a simple shape I'd go with wood,
just make sure its glass/resin sealed and PT to begin with.
