flywheel question 5.7 bad teeth...new one or just the ring gear

i got a bad flywheel. would you remove it and just change the ring gear. or replace the whole flywheel..

I think you can just flip the ring gear, I wouldn't replace the flywheel if was ok.

I guess it depends on What's Bad about your Flywheel.........

If it's just the Ring Gear that's tore up,........ It's easily replaceable by Itself........

Why take the risk of getting the wrong flywheel or spend the money? You have to take it off anyway. Just change the ring gear. It's easier then it looks.

i was talking to ebasic. guy told me its a waste of money, so i wanted to ask the pro's

as merc nor volvo offered the ring gear your going to have to match it up for diameter,tooth count and tooth pitch, theye made a bunch over the years.
however its not hard, last 7.4 flywheel I priced was almost 500 dollars and I think the correct ring gear at napa was about 30 dollars, you do the math.
