I have a 9.9 Johnson (1976) thats been put away for the winter, but not "winterized". Before my 1st trip to the Lake, should I spray SeaFoam or something into the cylinders before trying to start it here in the yard. And I do use "muffs" ...
Thanks

go ahead and start it. you may have a dirty carb. which seafoam may help after running, use fresh gas and oil. i live in Fkorida and have never winterized and engine.

Thanks, we have some pretty cold winters up here, but I don't think the previous owner ever winterized it either. Assuming I can find some Seafoam I may give it a try, to be safe. Thanks again..

Re: First Start

you could just tilt the engine up, and put a little oil in the cylinders, leave the plugs out. like it sit a little while. the pull with the plugs out. make sure no one is behind it, or they may get covered in oil.. i usually put a towel over the engine, and clean it up quickly.
