firing problem

I have a 1984 mercury 115hp L6 2 plugs will not fire I replaced coils but still does not fire. wiring harness was cut when i got boat. I repaired the harness and it ran great only time out. came back home and now I cannot get fire to 2 plugs. changed plugs also. any help will be greatly appreciated

Here's a very comprehensive troubleshooting guide from CDI Electronics:

The 6-cylinder ADI section starts on page 83.

If you need to take voltage readings you'll need to either make or purchase a DVA (Direct Voltage Adapter) for your meter. Search this section for numerous threads on how to build a DVA with inexpensive electrical/electronic components.

+1 emckelvy.
Recommend purchasing a DVA. With it and cdi, you'll be an ignition expert within an hour. The cost of the dva ($25-$30) is nothing compared to the cost of misdiagnosis on $200 parts; stator, switchbox, trigger.
