What are the pros and cons of switching to the merc option of an exhaust tube instead of replacing the exhaust bellows in a merc 120 (chev 153) and type 1 merc outdrive?

About to renew the bellows so need some input from knowledgeable folks.

TIA, Swabbie

The boot is a snap to put on... the bellows is a b-tch, even if you have the right tools. ALL pro-no con.

Re: Exhaust tube vs. bellows

I have the tube on my 350 chevy and it has to be a no brainer. It came that way when I bought it, and I haven't had any problems that i know of. don.t know why they ever used bellows ...

The tube was actually developed for thru transom exhaust users. the bellows would draw a vacuum behind the prop and slow it down, so they developed the tube, as far as I know it backfits all models.
