Re: Evinrude Outboard Not Getting Enough RPM?

I have been having a similar problem with my boat. I was unable to get my boat to go any faster the 14 or 15 MPH. I had the engine checked and carbs rebuilt and the engine ran great, but the boat would still not get out of the hole. Then one day I sat at the very front of the boat with my brother while my dad drove the boat and the boat planed out. The boat got up to 45+ MPH. I think my motor is at the wrong height, but I am not sure yet.

You might want to try putting some weight on the bow and see what the boat does. I had to put about 450 lbs on the front of the boat, but my boat is bigger. It is a 1985 Ranger 335V that is about 17 ft long with a 1978 Evinrude 140 HP motor. You might only have to put one person at the very front of the boat.

You probably already fixed your problem since the tread is over 3 years old, but I thought I might reply anyways.:)
