I like working on old boat motors, so I was asked by a friend to check out his old 35 hp Evinrude Lark motor. Not sure what year, Ser. # 25976. First checked compression-good. then replaced plugs, points, condensers, coils and wires. I removed the carb thinking it surely would be dirty and need a cleaning, but found it was very clean. Cleaned it anyway. The cork float looked alright, but gust to be safe I gave it a fresh coat of clear dope. When I try to start the motor both cyls. flood severely, especially the lower one and continue to flood even with the fuel line disconnected. Saturated float or what ? Does a new carb kit come with a float ?
