evinrude cooling question- deflectors?

88 evinrude 200. e200stlccm. Ok, now with the questions- i recently replaced the head gaskets and noticed that there are no water deflectors as i was told there would be. are they to exist on this motor? i dont see ant slots for them. i have two shop manuals for this motorand find no mention of them.

The 1988 200/225 Loop Charged models as well as some others do not incorporate water deflectors. They exist only in the Cross Flow models.
