Can the powerhead be separated from the adapter plate on this outboard in one piece? Looks to me as if the powerhead proper needs to be disassembled to access certain bolts, is that true?

thanks even125

Yes it can, but I would start with a service manual.

In fact, the powerhead has to be removed from the adapter/midsection before it can be disassembled. Remove the front and rear trim covers which are below the belly pan and all the bolts are accessable.

Trouble is the manual says the powerhead needs to be pulled apart, I have most of the bolts out ATM but have not looked at it in a month or so which was when I gave up instread of grab the grinder, I must have missed a bolt or two or it is stuck very well.

thanks for the replys,

cheers even125

Actually what about the two bolts that bolt upwards into the adapter directly above the entrance of the top engine mounts? Thinking back I couldn't get a spanner on them and the mount will not allow them to thread out either, the manual leaves VERY much of the engine to the imagination.
